During a current situation, you may not notice certain details or aspects of it, which may cause you to fail in whatever you attempt (blind sight)…

…then after some time has passed, you can look back at the situation, evaluate what you could’ve improved upon and use it as a lesson for future experiences (hindsight).

Also, this continues the crying metaphor. When crying, you are blinded by your tears, and only once your tear ducts are dry do you move on from the stage of sadness to regret (hindsight).

Referring to the cabin that Christopher Dorner was holed up in the during search for him. Police intentionally set the cabin ablaze to either smoke out or kill Dorner.

Here is the recording picked up by a nearby citizen’s police scanner to prove that the cabin was intentionally set on fire by the authorities:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCdqybEfy9w

The “official story” was that the burning of Dorner’s cabin was due to tear gas accidentally catching on fire. This is also eerily similar to Waco Siege incident, where a 51 day standoff between David Koresh and other occupants of the ranch, and government agencies such as the ATF and FBI. The standoff ended with tear gas “accidentally” catching fire after it was thrown inside the compound, burning down the compound with the occupants inside.

Controversy ensued over the origin of the fire. A government investigation concluded in 2000 that sect members themselves had started the fire at the time of the attack.

Both of these “official stories” are very similar in the fact that they were both labeled as “accidents” during the use of Tear Gas by the authorities, shrugged off, and not looked into further by any organization other than the authorities themselves. This means they can accomplish their goals by any means necessary and if no one else tries to find reasoning for this, they can get away with anything, even the most heinous of crimes.

Lupe is referring to George Zimmerman, the man who was acquitted of multiple charges in relation to the death of Trayvon Martin, who he mentions a couple lines from now.

He was a former neighborhood watch-captain who kept an eye on his area for any type of criminal behavior, which he suspected Trayvon of being involved in.

“Walking a beat” is patrolling on the job, usually as a police officer or a security guard.

Also as a continuation of the previous lines, Lupe could be walking around casually wearing some Beats (by Dre headphones). This would also tie in with the “neighborhood hoodie” line which follows in that he is both walking around casually (minding his own business) and walking around casually (dressed casually in a hoodie rather than in formal attire).

In the line about walking around beats he actually puts the word “beat” off beat. So he is actually rapping round the beat (off beat), not on it.

Lupe is just having fun and giving a subtle wink to his fans that he’s not taking this or himself too seriously.

Interesting wordplay using Drake’s 5AM in Toronto & Started From The Bottom tracks.

On 5AM in Toronto Drake raps:
#“It’s funny when you think a nigga blew up after Lupe

Lupe describes how a man pays attention to a dancer in a strip club. Drake used the original version of the track to describe how he was at the very bottom of the rap game and/or not very wealthy (even though he’s few monetary issues in his lifetime), and progressed all the way up to the top of the rap game and acquired massive amounts of wealth. In Lupe’s case, he’s beginning at the bottom, “bottomless” (visible vagina) and working upwards towards the top / “topless” (exposed breasts). Topless is also a much used reference to expensive convertible cars used by many rappers to signify success

Note also the pun on Drake’s tune

This also ties back to the previous line about falling “into a bottomless pit” – as if Lupe started from the bottomless and worked his way up to the topless.
