This event was also seen in the episode “Granddad’s Fight” when Riley was watching the TV news, instead of being concerned about Robert’s fight. It later paid off though.

Using in practice what he saw on TV. When someone throws a chair, a brawl breaks out, just like a brawl started when a chair got thrown at Eat Dirt.

Nice job, Riley!

The rapper that a chair is thrown at is Eat Dirt, who as seen is the winner of the “Rapper of the Year” award. This starts a real brawl.

This shows how Riley is only concerned with what’s going on in the Hip Hop culture, and doesn’t care about his Granddad’s plans to fight a blind man.

These last words of the episode show that the whole story about Martin Luther King Jr. coming back after being more than three decades in a coma and changing America’s view on the world, was just Huey’s dream — it was only in Huey’s imagination.

This is also again an allusion to Martin Luther King Jr.’s most popular speech, “I Have a Dream.”

Referring to the billionaire Robert Johnson, the founder of the Black Entertainment Television (BET) that King previously mentioned he hates in his speech. Therefore, we can see how much King’s speech influenced the African-Americans in the USA. Even Johnson apologized for founding the “worst thing Martin Luther King has ever seen.”

Mentioning all the “kings” he thinks deserve recognition.

  • Rodney King is the construction worker who became popular for being beaten by a couple L.A. police officers.
  • King Kong is a fictional character, a giant gorilla who appeared in the King Kong movie series.
  • Don King is a boxing promoter who has promoted fights of some of the biggest name in the history of boxing — Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, George Foreman, Evander Holyfield, Joe Frazier, Larry Holmes etc.
  • It’s not certain who the kings of comedy, rap and beer are though.

It’s ironic how this man is mentioning names of people that haven’t done anything revolutionary but have rather contributed in things like comedy, rap, movies, sports etc. He’s not giving props to the real king — Martin Luther King Jr.

Mahalia Jackson was a Gospel singer who sang quite a few times by King’s side. She sang one of her songs at the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom right before Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech. King has also once said (about her):

A voice like this one comes not once in a century, but once in a millennium.
