The band states that the song is based on “a composite of people” that lived in Van Zant’s neighborhood, but many believe Curtis Loew is Shorty Medlock who is the grandfather of Rickey Medlocke one of the band’s drummers/guitarist.

This references the song “Bicycle Race”, also from Jazz, which in turn references this song. The two songs were released together as a ‘Double A-side’ single.

The original cover for the single was a photo of a fully nude woman riding a bicycle, but many stores refused to sell it. The recording company released an alternate cover with panties painted on.

Although he doesn’t know what’s next whether that’s leading a “normal life” or continuing his “rockstar life”, he does hope that after the day of the wedding everything will become clear to him.

Corgan finally felt as if he has found someone who could fill the void he has had his whole life, but pre-wedding jitters made him question his decision. His best friend and the band’s drummer Jimmy Chamberlin helped ease his nerves during the wedding because he was used to Corgan being nervous before shows.
