Sexy Back, Apologize, Say Something… Timbaland sure knows how to make popular music, and particularly around 2008, when this song was released.

This could also be a reference to the unexpected collaboration between Chris Cornell and Timbaland in that same year, which resulted in a commercial and critical flop, titled Scream. His fans were astounded, and the rock crowd was mad at him, with Trent Reznor even calling the album “embarrassing”. Cornell apparently got the message, since only months after releasing it he reformed Soundgarden and started working on new songs as a band.

On the deluxe release of The Red Album, Rivers Cuomo states this song “actually sounds like a Timbaland kind of production; he has little baby crying type of sounds.”

It’s also worth noting the plucked piano that comes in the background on this line – this is a direct reference to how Timbaland produces.

“Pork and Beans” was inspired by a meeting with Geffen in which Weezer was told to try to make more commercial music. The song is Weezer’s response, which ironically became pretty famous (although maybe that was the plan).

It also earned much fame from its music video, showcasing plenty of internet meme victims from the 2000s.

The song is basically a focus on things that are happening in America which the band is upset about (war, obesity, no equal right, etc)

This is a reference to the Conquest of Jericho by the Israelites as described in the Bible. The Israelites had to circle the Great Walls of Jericho seven Times and than it collapsed.
The Great Wall in China is known to have the skeletons of workers who died while creating it, but this man is claiming it was more than that…some sort of treasure horde where all the greatest riches of the world reside…some National Treasure shit!

“Russia” is off of Ramona Falls studio debut album Inuit

The lyrics seem to be about a man attempting to gain back the love of a woman that has seemed to not forgiven him for his past wrongdoings, but some believe it is also about the wonders of the world both in nature and ancient civilizations.

Correct album title is “Intuit”, released in 2009.

PT boat on the way to Havana Ramones – Havana Affair

PT = Patrol Torpedo

They were torpedo armed speed boats and this particular one was headed to Havana carrying the Cuban man as he looks back on his changed life.

I see this song as written from the point of view of a cuban who went over to Cuba in the Bay of pigs incident in 1961. The cuban is weirdly happy as he does not yet knwo the outcome of the invasion

my daddy (born in 1954) made sure me and my siblings (millennial-genz) were WELL educated on his music. and he LOVED this among others- I remember he always cracked UP bc of these lyrics 🤣 RIP Daddy, you raised us right ❤️🎶🪗
