Allusion to the name of the album The Walking Wounded. In triage “the walking wounded” are injured people of low priority. Sometimes even the “walking wounded” would assist medics on the battlefield with soldiers who had more serious injuries. Bayside being the “walking wounded” are assisting those who are also injured but in more need of help (their fans) and also lead them in their fight.

During the period that The Walking Wounded was released many good things were happening for the band and band members. They had been getting a lot of push through their former label Victory Records, they received a lot of shine and were not only touring but playing different musical festivals such as the Vans Warped Tour, their song “Duality” was featured on the soundtrack for the movie Resident Evil: Extinction, and lead singer Anthony Raneri had gotten married (leading to the creation of Bayside’s one and only love song, “Landing Feet First”, which Raneri performed at his own wedding).

Refers to the Iyaric (many know this as “Rasta”) term “I and I” which means the oneness with Jah and oneness with every human being. In “Rasta” the word “me” is seen as objective while “I” is seen as subjective.

In this case Bayside is connecting with their fans claiming that they are all one. Bayside are it’s fans and it’s fans are Bayside.

Bayside is also known to incorporate the Rastafarian colors of green, yellow, and red into their band. This includes utilizing the colorway in their merchandise, instruments, etc.

“I and I” is off of Bayside’s third studio album The Walking Wounded.

The song “I and I” is about the fans and overcoming difficulties. They have a motto that says “Bayside is a Cult”, but they don’t mean cult in a crazy way, they simply mean that their fans are truly devoted to them and this song is to show appreciation for their “Cult” because many of their fans have gone through the same or similar hardships at they have.
