A good buy for Manchester City, who have lacked a top class, natural wide midfielder for some time. Last season they sufficed with central players David Silva and Samir Nasri, and hardworking-but-not-as-talented James Milner in wide positions.

It will be Navas’s first season outside of Spain, as he has only recently overcome crippling homesickness that made him turn down transfers to England with Chelsea in the past.

Navas will be one of the quickest players in the league. Last season, he was recorded running at a speed of 20.72mph!

Liverpool took a £20 million hit on the young Geordie striker by offloading him to West Ham. Carroll was still hopeful that he could return to Liverpool and fight for a place in the first team in order to bolster his England career, but manager Brendan Rogers was clear in saying Carroll was not in his plans.

Still, West Ham is a good move for poor Andy. They’re one of the phyiscally robust teams in the league, and love to lob the ball long for a headed goal – the one thing the greasy lump undoubtedly has good ability to do.

A straight sets victory for the world #1, who is yet to lose a single set in the whole tournament.

Berdych almost made life difficult for Djokovic in the second set, breaking serve twice and going 3-0 ahead, but struggled for consistency and made many crucial mistakes. Djokovic on the other hand remained clinical, delivering 16 Aces and committing only one double fault.

Djokovic now faces eighth seed Del Potro in the semi-finals.

What a comeback by the home favourite on Centre Court. Murray was two sets down within ninety minutes, falling victim to Verdasco’s impressive and powerful haircut/forehand.

However, Murray pummelled Verdasco in the third, and followed that up with two tense and closely-fought sets in which both had chances to win the match.

The winner plays Jerzy Janowicz on friday, and this marathon match will leave them with some fatigue. It’s a fifth consecutive semi-final for Murray though, and if he wins it could be a top two seed-final pitting him against Djokovic.

Sanogo is a typical Arsene Wenger signing – a young, relatively unknown Frenchman who he can work with from development age.

Sanogo has been impressing for Auxerre and France U20’s, scoring 11 goals in 24 games. There are doubts about his fitness – he has never started five consecutive games.

The fact that Arsenal got him on a free transfer after his Auxerre contract expired somewhat negates this risk.

Interesting story about Sonogo is that Auxerre was hoping that Arsenal would loan him back to Auxerre to get more playing time, but Arsenal declined saying they believe that the young Frenchman is already good enough to crack the 1st team at Arsenal.

A regular for England U21’s, Shelvey definitely has potential. However, he rarely displayed it at Liverpool – partly through a lack of regular starts.

This move to Swansea is a good one for him. He will definitely get more chances to impress, but whether he grows into the player he has the potential to be is yet to be seen. £6m could turn out to either be a great deal for Swansea, or a brilliant price for Liverpool.

When Sandro first signed for Tottenham, he didn’t speak English, and the only native Portugese speaker at the club was goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes. He became Sandro’s friend and mentor in his first season at Spurs.

Now, with Gomes about to leave Tottenham, it’s Sandro’s turn to act as the friend to his countryman.

Paulinho is a crucial buy for Tottenham, and strengthens the team in a position that drastically needed strengthening. The last season’s midfield had ideally consisted of talented Belgian Mousa Dembele and Sandro side by side together.

However, due to sporadic, unlucky injuries suffered by both of them at different parts of the season, Spurs could only field their strongest midfield for a fraction of the year. This placed a heavy burden on the out-of-form Scott Parker and the unfit Tom Huddlestone, and Spurs’s performances suffered for it.

With Paulinho arriving, Spurs have more quality in the deep midfield position and can ease the burden on their existing players. A switch to a midfield three, as Tottenham experimented with successfully in 2012/13, seems likely.
