Despite him being undeniable ”hot”, at the time Hopsin wasn’t receiving nearly as much praise as his fellow Los Angeles peers Nipsey Hu$$le, Glasses Malone, and Jay Rock.

To ”throw up the W” is slang for making the recognised “W[estside]” hand gesture – this gesture highlighting your affiliation with, allegiance to, or love for America’ West Coast.

Note that while this sign’ origin is unknown, a notable figure who helped popularize it was one of Hopsin’ favourite artists, 2Pac – using it frequently, and even making the gesture on the album artwork of his diamond certified album All Eyez on Me.
