In 2011, Bennett was named chairman of the NBA’s relocation committee.

Chris Hansen is a San Francisco hedge-fund manager has recently shown interest in building a new state-of-the-art sports arena in the South Downtown area of Seattle with the hope that a new basketball team would call the venue home and would sport the iconic Sonics green and yellow.

Hansen has become somewhat of a celebrity in Seattle after he bought the necessary property required for the construction of the arena.

The Sonics played in the Pacific division from 1970-2004 and in the Northwest division from 2004-2008.

After the Sonics left, the only major teams Seattle had left were the Seahawks (NFL), Mariners (MLB), and the University of Washington Huskies (NCAA).

The Seattle SuperSonics won the NBA Championship in 1979.

The Seattle Seahawks are great and all but the SuperSonics had a longer history in Seattle.
