Right off the bat, YMAS starts the album with a refreshing track highlighting the new path the band has taken. A sense of enlightenment and freedom.

The track hones in on the idea that we all, as a people, need to learn to live and discover who we are.

The girl who’s hot enough for you to marry isn’t even special to him. He gets girls like this on a regular basis.

Always on his Hoodie shit:

So I swoop in and tell her, if her parents don't approve of me
That don't change a goddamn thing, girl, I don't buy no jewelry

Ray Allen is a current NBA player but he was a BEAST in the 90s.

He was also the main character in a film called He Got Game in 1998. “I got game” is a saying for a very well playing athlete and/or having massive charm to impress girls.

The first single from Hoodie Allen’s album People Keep Talking.

The video is a play on the film, Happy Gilmore with Hoodie as Happy and D-Why as Shooter McGavin. Makes sense seeing as he has a song of he same name over Gambino’s “Freaks and Geeks”.

Hoodie even got Tommy Lee to play his caddy. Now that’s just awesome.

Nice metaphorical imagery used here.

  • Fire is commonly used to represent chemistry between two people or their desires.

  • Breath is interchangeable with oxygen which only makes fire stronger.

The relationship between the two, has no where to go nor anything to feed it or keep it alive.

Njomza really takes it back to the Hippie Era with the video, but musically with the help of THEMPeople, bring it back to that Jazz & Soul feel.

Such a smooth tune for a song about romance.

I used XV as my muse, junior year in College. Being the gamer that XV is, I felt this was appropriate. I just mashed them up, while trying to make some sense.

I tried to somewhat mimic the form of the poem.

“Judas” is Judas Iscariot. According to the New Testament, he is one of the twelve original apostles of Jesus Christ, and the son of Simon Iscariot. Also it’s a build off the jungle line. He’s showing the listener the different walks of life in his city (which he considers to be a jungle).

Also a play on the name of Gangster Disciples, an actual gang that started in Chicago and is in the top four for most violent gangs.

The contrast between gloom and glittering shows the breadth of the human mind as well as that of the universe.

In an interesting comment one contributor asks ‘Is it just contrast? The word “reflecting” may explain that there are actually similarites between light and dark. May assert that you need balance or that everything is a part of the whole.

There is a little bit of light in darkness and a little bit of darkness and light. Gloom is also partial darkness.

This may be born out by the rhythmic structure of the line, a triplet of repeated ‘now’s,and alliterative 'gl’s, providing a satisfying balance.
