Director: Syndrome

The video follows Kiesza as she empties a comfortable loft and showcases the new red HP Pavillion x360. She then plays her song, No “Enemiesz”, begins choreography, and strips down on her way to the shower. Watch as her clothes come alive and join her in her quest to get clean. That shower silhouette at the end might get the video banned though. Those sneaks and that glittering Hoodie are fly as hell too.

On October 23, 2014, Kiesza released a lyric video) for her the upcoming official.

Paying homage to the duo Kris Kross and their famous single, “Jump”:

A little bit after the release of “Hideaway”, Kiesza released her ballad rendition (piano-and-synth) and cover of Haddaway’s euro dance track, “What Is Love” (Night at the Roxbury anyone?).

Many wonder why she chose others and herself to be without clothes in the video. That was in order to show raw emotion in he sense of being vulnerable. She mentions in an interview with Billboard, that that’s the way she felt while making her album, Sound of a Woman.

Released: July 1, 2014 (VEVO)
Director: Afuni
Filmed: New York City

Wanting to create something that would contrast her previous hit, “Hideaway”, Kiesza chose to make a short-film following a man who struggles with the confines of society and the real world verses who he really is: A businessman in the morning and a drag queen at night.

One of the main characters in the video never showed up for the shoot,” she explains, drama piled thick on her typically sweet Canadian tone. “So I had to get one of my friends to take his place.” She pauses. “There’s some drag queens in the video, and the character who didn’t show up was a drag queen, so my friend, who’s actually like a well-known writer, stepped up.” Another dramatic pause. “And dressed up in drag!” She bursts into laughter. “He’s completely straight, and just the best sport ever.

Released: February 2014
Directed: Blayre Ellestad (Kiesza’s older brother) and co-directed by Kiesza and Afuni
Filmed: Summer of 2013 in Brooklyn
Choreography: Ljuba Castot

One of the most popular videos of the year (almost 8 million views), Kiesza pays homage to the 90s Dance Era of music. She practiced the dances for three days, learned 5 dance styles and did it in one take. She claimed to have done more takes after, but things kept going wrong after, so they just used the first one.

On top of that, Kieza actually injured a rib during practice and by the time, the first take was done, her rib was broken.

She also did a little bit of a remake with Drew from Noisey Meets and some random guys from a Wind Distributor

Kiesza’s outfit pays homage to Tiffani Thiesan’s character in Saved by the Bell, Kelly Kapowski.

Sidenote: A bunch of parodies were made for this video.

“Crossing the line” is an idiom for when someone does something that is not acceptable by the person perceiving their actions; usually someone who is trusted.

The narrator seems constantly with her partner doing things she does not approve of. Seems she’s been ignoring it for a while.

Check out the alliteration: timber, Timberlake, intimadatin'.

Playing on the homonyms, great and grate. Not only is Mac above average, but he can reduce any opponent who comes his way.

“Shake it” is slang for either “start something” or “kick rocks” (it’s the latter this time). “Timber” is another word for a large log, this is why lumberjacks or anyone else yells it when they chop down a tree others in the vicinity can avoid it.

HE’S REALLY NOT.

Mac compares and contrasts himself with the one of Pop’s greatest male artist in the past decade, Justin Timberlake. He may not have the looks or the same style but Miller knows Justin and him don’t really strike fear in others.

This is why Relapse still had confusing drug references, that many didn’t understand after he pronounced being sober:

Contemplating my next plot again, swallowing a Klonopin
While I’m noddin' in and out on the ottoman
At the Ramada Inn, holding onto the pill bottle, then
Lick my finger and swirl it round the bottom and
Make sure I got all of it – “3 AM”

I just picked your prescription for Seroquel up
Now would you like to share a pill or two with me
I’ll share my Valium with you cause I’m feeling you Britney
I’ll trade you a blue one for a pink one – “Same Song and Dance”

Eminem has claimed to be a creature of habit, which is why after sevens years of avoiding, not only drugs, but the rhymes too, had an effect on his musical creation.
