Jon Chu’s objective with this show was to highlight dancers. In recent years, people have started to look at martial arts as an artform (mainly in Dance) rather than a method of training. Yet, this is one of the first times dances have been placed into a form of martial arts.

Similarities between the two:
1. Train for skill development.
2. Dances battles are like fights without the violence.
3. Showcase abilities, various techniques, and styles.

Cole Horibe is a perfect example of both with his “Martial Arts Fusion” style, which he displayed on SYTYCD. He has been trained in both worlds.

Thoreau is known to compare or gender Nature as “she” or a woman and Industry as “he” or a man:

Industry and technology are creations of the male society, but woman aren’t and should be as free as the life that surrounds them; referring to the natural world. Houses are often seen as woman’s domain enforced on them by their male counterparts.

Stand is used in somewhat of a double entendre:

• The women hate (can’t stand) the conditions they are confined too.

• Suggests that woman or housewives always sit – oppressed – and can not stand up to men.

Thoreau carefully contrasts the differences between the natural world and the mechanical one. Very suggestive of the industrial world seemingly making humans lazy and useless.
