A polyp is an abnormal growth of tissue projecting from a mucous membrane. Very gross, very painful. Think of a coral reef growing on your vocal chords. Fun, right?

Kells feels that he is guilty for what has happened to those around him. Possibly believing in Karma, MGK thinks that from the sins he’s committed and bad things he’s done, the universe (or God) has affected friends and family to punish him – like his mother leaving him, his girl being killed by a stray bullet, friends being locked away, etc.

While none of the things Kells has done are actually the reason for what has happened to those around him, he feels guilty.

“Oy Vey” is a Yiddish expression meaning “oh, woe” or “woe is me” or “oh no.”

Mac’s collaborator Big Jerm provided background information about the track:

He might’ve said “Oy vey” to me because, I’m not gonna say we fought, but you know. From being around Malcolm a lot, he was kinda like my little brother in a way with the music stuff. So we would always mess with each other. So it was like he was annoyed with me [laughs]; I did something that made him say “Oy vey.” He came with that sample, too. It came together from there.

The track samples the synth bass from “True Affection” by indie duo The Blow.
