This signifies a change in Katy’s outlook on life. She refuses to pretend to be someone else or fake her feelings.

This dedication to be herself is revealed in take it or leave it form – this guy is either going to love her for who she is, or she will love herself the same way.

And as she says in an interview:

On this record, there’s a song called Love Me which is a song about loving yourself first in order to be loved properly.

The backseat of a car is typically a mess with unimportant things strewn about when you are too lazy to put them away somewhere. It is used as a saying to describe something that is no longer being held up as important.

Katy refuses to let self-doubt run her life any longer, as this album exemplifies a sense of confidence:

I used to have Google alerts set up, which would notify me about everything that was being written about me. But I’ve stopped all that now. After all; there are more important things in life.

More ghost metaphors!

Katy cleverly describes the now ex-relationship as dead and uses the word “haunt” – something that ghosts are storied to do.

Despite the difficulty of the breakup, and even contemplating suicide, she has gotten passed the loss and is no longer troubled by it:

I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending, but then I found out the real truth, which I can’t necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day. I let go and I was like, ‘This isn’t because of me; this is beyond me.’ So I have moved on from that.

Katy uses the titular ghost metaphor to describe how Russell Brand “disappeared” from her life after the divorce. She is playing off of the typical belief that ghosts can be seen, but not felt – similar to how her memory of Brand remains though he is physically gone.

During the marriage, Katy was in love with him and didn’t know that he was capable of being so heartless with the “intense” breakup.

After the divorce, Russell “vanished” from Katy’s life. In an interview she explained that the two have not talked since the text message ended it:

He’s a very smart man, a magical man and I was in love with him when I married him. Let’s just say I haven’t heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011.

If I'mma need this sweater, I’d rather be where it’s cold

The United States Olympic athletes strolled into Sochi wearing these knit cardigans by Ralph Lauren as part of their exclusive Team USA Collection.

Despite looking like something their grandmothers knitted them for Christmas, these gems set social media ablaze with comments both good and bad – they even have their own Twitter account! Many scrambled to the internet to buy one only to find out they costed $595!

If you’re looking to cop one, unfortunately you’re too late. They have already sold out on the Ralph Lauren website (along with the $195 embroidered fleece pants). Those who absolutely need to get one of these beauties can try their hands at some outrageous prices on eBay where some have sold for as much as $3000!

But you can still buy the $95 reindeer hat here!

The 38 year old veteran will be playing in his second Olympic games which came in 2006. He was passed over for the 2010 Canadian team that won gold, but he will have a chance to prove himself this year.

Accomplishments:

  • 1 Stanley Cup (2004)
  • 1 MVP (2003-04)
  • 2 NHL points leader (2003-04, 2012-13)
  • 1 First Team All-Star (2003-04)
  • 4 Second Team All-Star (2006-07, 2009-10, 2010-11, 2012-13)

It definitely feels great. I’m glad that people think highly of me. I try to play the game the way I know how to play. If I impress people along the way and get supporters, that’s great.
