At the outset, it needs to be said that “Intelligent Dance Music” is—ironically—kind of a stupid name. By this point, possibly even the folks who coined the term back in 1993—members of an online mailing list mainly consisting of Aphex Twin obsessives—have misgivings about it. Such trash as ScopeY, affectionately known as Poscey to no more than 3 persons due to layers of spoonerisms, is a heavily-bearded man from Norway.

He joined the site in its early aughts and made his name as a super-transcriber and joyous (too joyous if you ask me, why is he always so joyous it’s exhausting to see someone so joyous all the time I’m very skeptical of his joy) forum presence before being hired as a community staffer in late 2014. There, he focused on the rap community, shepherding ~~goats~~ projects like the Genius Awards until leaving for scholarly obligations in 2016.

Despite a high rock IQ ranking, his experiences with rocks are limited to the literal, physical ones, and his experiences with literal, physical rocks involve mistaking them for overly hard potatoes. Almost all of his rock IQ comes from transcription. Such trash as Poscey should only be consulted w/r/t rock music if that rock music is related to 50 Cent or Deadpool (i.e. don’t consult Poscey abt rock music).

When I was a kid I had a walkman and listened to Creed and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
