As stated in the previous line, Cole was featured on the cover of XXL as part of the ‘freshman list’, which features artists who are considered to have potential. Cole argues that he is already amongst the elite in the rap industry, and points out that he receives no recognition, from various magazines, for all the accolades that he has acquired up to this point.

Fader is a New York based music magazine, which often features various mainstream rappers on its covers.

When a person passes away and this person was particularly good at what they did, they will sometimes be referred to as “The late great _____”. Cole is the best and it won’t take him dying for people to realize it.

Since Cole is young and hot, he has some sexual ambitions that he’d like to make happen.

Not the first time Cole has talked about his dreams of sleeping with certain actresses. He previously mentioned on his track Cole Summer

If i had one wish, I would fuck Tia and Tamera, at the same time
And put name tags on they titties so I don’t get they name wrong

He continues with the reference to the previous line,(“acting out – my childhood fantasies”), of acting. It also is saying Cole would like to bone some other girls, a girl who could act out the role of his wife, which could be any girl.

Shortly after graduating from St. John’s University, Cole camped outside a studio Jay-Z was supposed to arrive at. After hours of waiting, Cole finally saw Jay, but was told to move out of the way by his security. Cole wanted to give Jay a beat that he made for American Gangster.

Two years after the incident, Cole caught Jay’s attention after gaining popularity in the online world, mostly due to his Come Up mixtape. Jay heard the song “Lights Please” and eventually signed Cole to Roc Nation. Pretty ironic indeed.

Cole talks about the meeting in this interview:

The beat Cole tried to hand Jay-Z can be found in the video below:

He also spoke about this particular moment on “God’s Gift":

Jigga wouldn’t even take my CD when he seen me
Two years later bitch we made it on, on to the Blueprint

So far Soul has released three projects under the Long Term name:

The two mixtapes:

And his debut independent album:

  • Long Term Mentality

But, Soul has said, on numerous occasions, that Long Term Mentality is not meant to be part of the series, so perhaps he could be hinting towards his next project.

Calling back to the previous line, Cole implies he actually is Biggie and Pac combined, but the difference is that he’s still alive today. Pac was shot five times at Quad Studios in 1994 — not six, as rappers often seem to think.
B.I.G. got shot four times on March 9, 1997, leading to his death. Although he was shot four times, only one bullet was fatal.
So the five shots of 2Pac combined with the one fatal shot of B.I.G. add up to six.

The interesting thing to note is that Cole doesn’t include the shots, although the exact number is unknown, that killed Pac on September 7, 1996.

Triple entendre:

  1. Every time Cole drops a song, his website usually crashes due to extremely high traffic; making it seem like another 9/11 happened on his site.
  2. His debut album was released in September 2011 (9/11) and performed much better commercially than expected, crashing the industry.

  3. He is driving around town in a ‘drop-top’ Porsche 911, another symbol of his success.

So if isn’t clear enough already, You ain’t on Cole’s level.

Despite his success, he has managed to keep the same attitude as before.

Also a reference to his friend and fellow rapper Big Sean, who is responsible for popularizing the ‘Finally Famous’ movement with his album entitled Finally Famous. Cole and Sean gained popularity around the same time, even being featured on the same XXL Freshman issue in 2010.
