BDK gets credit for innovating the smooth, playerific rap style with albums like It’s a Big Daddy Thing. In that regard, he’s thought of as something of a forerunner to fellow Brooklyn MC Jay-Z.

At the time the song was recorded, Slick Rick was incarcerated for second-degree attempted murder. He received an extended sentence because of his troubles with INS (the Immigration and Naturalization Services, not the rapper), which a lot of people viewed as unjust, leading to the “Free Slick Rick” movement.

Refers to Eddie Murphy’s Raw. In the routine, Murphy recalls Bill Cosby describing his (Murphy’s) act: “Filth flarn flarn flarn filth … kiss my big black stuff and stick it down your mouth and suck it, suck it!”

According to Cosby, this incident never happened.

So some homeboy sees this white girl wearing a hat that says Comptown, and he mistakes it for Compton, so he greets her with, “Bitch, you ain’t from Compton.” Apparently this happens all the time.

In this context, she probably means that she will destroy you in a battle.
