A surfer can’t possibly catch more waves than “your current antennae,” or a smartphone, or any phone of the sort. ‘current’ antennas are always receiving new messages, alerts, etc. A surfer couldn’t possibly keep up.

enema: the procedure of introducing liquids into the rectum and colon via the anus.

Actually, i’m sure there are several nurses who wouldn’t enjoy doing enemas. Unless i’m mistaken here somewhere, this line doesn’t exactly fit very well..

the odds that you are better than us are probably less than Oedipus hating his mother.

Oedipus is a man in greek mythology who was prophesied to kill his father and marry his mother. He, of course, loved his mother. so much, that when he accidentally married her after an unfortunate series of events, he gouged his eyes out, and exiled himself from the city of Thebes.

You’ve been hearing the same stuff over and over for such a long time, you can no longer comprehend “rap” for what it really is anymore, and perceive it to be just the stuff you hear on the radio, i.e. pop.

He’s tired of it;

Since he’s not famous, through political or other means, he can’t say anything about what’s going on with the music industry, because nobody will listen.

Probably the most outstanding couple of lines in the song.

As he’s explained before in the song, all of the reasons why the same music is replayed endlessly with slight variations are obvious to him, and are being powered by the same people that wonder why they keep hearing the same music. Its all because of money, everything. Its a surefire way to make money, playing the same artists making the same kind of music. An original flow, or anything that sounds different than what is on the radio constantly, will be given the cold shoulder because it’s too much of a risk for record companies to make; the money returned from sponsoring it is not nearly as guaranteed as it is from playing the same music over and over.

For others that feel similar to the feelings expressed in this song; Those people can’t stand hearing the same things constantly. Since they hear it constantly, they know all of the words to it. Its actually a direct opposite as to what should happen in real life; the more a person listens to a song, the more they should like it, and therefore learn the words to it. But because of this, it is hate for the song instead of love.

Tonedeff’s lack of success, he claims, is due to his lack of money. Based on the things mentioned in this song, he’s probably correct.

A drastic exaggeration on the needs of somebody to get big; being shot as an aspiring rapper will definitely get you some buzz on the news, putting forth your releases into the light, albeit just a sliver of light.

No talent is needed; just money. Using drug money, one can pay the producer of the month lots of money for a beat. If you also are able to get a guest spot on a more popular rappers record, you will get a lot of buzz, which will propel your career

Reviewers had better not dismiss the music without a second glance; they had better examine and dissect it, as if they bought the music as a devoted fan.

QN5, the label of which Tonedeff is the founder, has been boo’d at (as stated), by people who refuse to even take a second look at the music.

Those who take hardly ever take risks with the music they put out (i.e. record labels who only release purely what’s popular at the moment, because its a surefire way of raking in tons of cash) are “watching their back” because of this; they can’t look any other direction because they need to make sure their back is secure. they are also “watching their back” because they don’t “face forward,” meaning there’s no progress going on because of this lack of risk-taking. The same music being released over and over leads to repetitiveness, and no progress is made because nobody dares to look forward.
