Most people remember Kool Moe Dee as that guy with the Star Trek shades that got dissed by LL, but he was on the lyrical tip early, at a time when crowd-pleasing party raps were the norm.

His dismantling of Busy Bee during a 1981 battle is legendary. And his group the Treacherous Three put out classics like “Feel The Heartbeat” and “New Rap Language” which pushed speed, endurance and sheer skills to new levels.

From brandy to gin to cheap malt liquor.

As Prodigy would later tell us in his song Three, Dainy is dun language for St. Ides (see below), a brand officially endorsed by an alarming number of Hip Hop artists in the 90’s.

Dun Language?
Replacing the ’s' at the start of a word with a ’d'. So son becomes dun, self becomes delf etc (first used by EPMD in the 80’s?). Presumably Saint Ides becomes Daint Ides which becomes Dainy for short.

Continuing KRS One’s infatuation with Paul McCartney, this intro is sung to the tune of “Ebony and Ivory” by McCartney and Stevie Wonder.

Longtime BDP fans might remember this intro from the “Up To Date” song/routine that KRS used to perform live.

Scoliosis is a medical condition in which the spine is curved instead of straight (see x-ray). Cristal and Moet are being used as shorthand for the jiggy-swaggy-flossy rap that has become increasingly popular since the late 90’s.

Buckshot isn’t impressed with rappers that flaunt their wealth while so many others are still struggling. He isn’t cool until his people are cool – his people being both Boot Camp Clik (remember, Sean Price is the Brokest Rapper You Know), and black people in general.

Do the math. Sean P’s group Heltah Skeltah first appeared together with Originoo Gunn Clappaz as Fab 5, releasing the song Leflaur Leflah Eshkoshka (later rebranded as a Heltah Skeltah track featuring OGC).

Fab 5 had five members. If you add Buckshot and Smif-n-Wessun you get Boot Camp Clik, a crew of eight. Therefore Sean P is one fifth of the Fab 5 and one eighth of the great Boot Camp Clik.

Originally released as “Leflah” by the Fab 5 (Heltah Skeltah and Originoo Gun Clappaz). This song marked the introduction of Duck Down’s hugest acts Heltah Skeltah (Sean Price & Rockness Monsta) and Originoo Gunn Clappaz (Starang Wondah, Louieville Sluggah, & Top Dogg) performing as a whole under the name “The Fab 5”.

Jack LaLanne was a bodybuilder and fitness guru who opened one of America’s first gyms in 1936. The Jack LaLanne Fitness Center went on to become a national franchise.

This is a play on LaLanne’s name because the word jack can also mean to steal. Instead of working out, Sean got back up to fighting weight with twenty pounds of stolen jewellery.
