The rate of murders in Rochester, NY where Emilio resides from is very high and is comparable to how high crack fiends are from the product. Rochester used to be the Murder Capital of New York State after all so those fiends must be baked.

With all the bullying and depression Jared suffers from his classmates at school, he won’t allow these influences to bring him to his demise. All his emotions and thoughts are forced by the words and actions of others and he would be his worst enemy by letting them get to him.

Comparing himself to Charlie Brown (though in a darker way), Evan understands the struggles that a character such as Charlie goes through. Charlie’s friends treat him like a nuisance or a screw-up sometimes and his pursuit for his crush usually ends with him flustered at the thought of telling her his feelings.

Even with his lack of success, Charlie is actually an optimistic young boy towards these situations and never steers away from accomplishing them. Charlie is just an underdog who always manages to get up and try again, making him such a likable and relatable character.

To conclude the song, it returns to the skit that helped introduce the song. Lucy’s one line implies that Charlie Brown chose to try and kick the ball anyway and ended up falling for her old trick. She commends him for the effort either way.

This line is actually important, showing that while Jared can fight against his insecurities and failures, he will fail sometimes but it doesn’t neccessarily mean he should stop trying to pursue his goals. This optimism is what pushes Charlie Brown to keep going even against his lack of success.

The introduction skit focuses on characters Charlie Brown and Lucy from the Peanuts franchise and their signature routine where Lucy would hold a football down for Charlie to kick only to pull it away at the last second. This often leaves Charlie lying on his back in embarassment as Lucy mocks him for it.

However, the odd thing about this skit is Charlie’s straight denial of Lucy’s pleas to kick the ball, claiming she just wants to pull the ball away as she usually does to watch Charlie fall and potentially kill himself. Killing would not be a theme brought up in a children’s franchise like Peanuts.

While Charlie is a nice, trusting and just lovable loser, his insecurities often overpower him, leading him to be labeled as “the great American un-success story” because he fails at almost everything he attempts.

These themes of bullying and insecurity are what Jared Evan plays on throughout the original version and the verses on the remix add to it, though they soon come to rebel from these negative thoughts and opinions of themselves, most notably Emilio.

Throughout most of the verse, Emilio points out experiences that show how his peers doubted him and thought he would never amount to anything as he did nothing to stand out in school. While these assumptions could have had some truth to them, he broke the barriers set before him and has accomplished several things as an independent rap artist.

With all these careless jokes his classmates were making, Emilio responded by simply fighting them and keeping them in check so they would never would disrespect him again.

The pah sound he makes is supposed to mirror the sound of someone slapping someone else.

Another possible reference to racism as Emilio’s Caucasian classmates would poke fun of him and call him Hector, a typical name for Hispanic males while disrespecting him and calling him out of his name.

This is ironic due to Rojas also being Caucasian, being more alike to them than they actually know, something that Emilio highlights in All Mixed Up.

As he was growing older, Emilio became more infatuated with the opposite sex and pursued sexual relationships with them though he was punished at times for it (“sitting in detention”)

Fucking your Spanish teacher after her class is one way of gaining detention or possibly a good grade. It also helps that Emilio is Venezuelan so he’s good.

None of the males were too fond of Emilio because he was hitting or having sex with all of their girlfriends. He was turning from a loner with bad grades to a rebellious outsider. This obviously attracted the ladies if they weren’t fucking with him before.
