efemjay says his “shit’s retarded,” meaning his music (“his shit”) is “crazy” (“retarded”) or very good. The double meaning of the words is explored by citing a mentally retarded classmate, Jamie Jerrel, and efemjay comparing the “retardation” of his rhymes (“his shit”) to the retarded Jerrel’s fecal matter (“his shit”).

efemjay then takes this comparison further by comparing it to “Michael Ruoff’s fecal matter smeared on the wall.” Ruoff was a severely retarded classmate who once smeared feces all over the inside of a bathroom stall at efemjay’s school.

efemjay says he talks about “dykes” – lesbians. In this case, efemjay is talking about the openly gay WNBA player Sheryl Swoopes.

This part of the hook interpolates classic lines from Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick’s “La-Di-Da-Di.” Instead of the original’s “we’re just some men that’s on the mic,” the soloist efemjay says he’s “just a man that’s on the mic.” And while Slick Rick says, “when we rock up on the mic, we rock the mic right,” efemjay says, “when I rock up on the mic, I talk about dykes” – which segues into the first line of the second verse.

This part of the hook revisits material from Verse 1. After the first 16 bars of Verse 1, efemjay goes into a pseudo hook, saying “I rock hardcore” / “anti-war”; “initiating force is weak” / “fuck Al Gore” / “hardcore, your mom’s sore”; “‘cause I hit her in the shitter.” These same ideas are explored, slightly differently, in the hook, and then once again beginning bar #17 in Verse 2.

This is perhaps the most deeply inside reference on the entire Full Blown AIDS album. In 2007, efemjay had his 10-year high-school reunion at a bar and restaurant called Artesian Wells. He performed two songs: “Rock the Mic” and “Dewey Knitwell.”

efemjay’s brother DJ’d the event, and his assistant was a young man named Travis Schilling. Schilling bore a striking resemblance to one of efemjay’s classmates Bob Storer (pronounced “Store”). efemjay and friends convinced other classmates that Schilling was indeed Bob Storer.

Schilling/Storer took the stage with efemjay, serving as his backup dancer. Hence, “rocking hardcore like Bob Store, breaking it down on the Artesian Wells dance floor.” These lyrics were written shortly after the event.

Ryan Kurutz was a high-school classmate of efemjay’s who had Hodgkin’s Disease, and thus, was always “ill.” efemjay is even “iller” on the mic.

“Kurutz” is pronounced like “Kurts,” thereby causing “buyin' shirts” to be a perfect rhyme with “Ryan Kurutz.”

At the time of this recording, efemjay weighed 300 lbs. He has since lost 100 lbs, but at the time, he did most of his shopping at the big-and-tall clothier, Casual Male XL.

Despite the fact that efemjay has vowed to never again have intercourse with his opponent’s mother, she keeps on trying to reach him via the two-way feature on his outdated Nextel cell phone. Talk about annoying!

Tommy Morrison was a heavyweight boxer, a “great white hope” who starred in Rocky V. In 1996, Morrison was forced into retirement from boxing after testing positive for HIV.

In the line, efemjay says he “ain’t going out like Tommy Morrison” – i.e., he isn’t going to let himself get HIV from his opponent’s mother. This is why efemjay will “never have her on all fours again” for doggy-style sex.

After having rough sex with his imagined opponent’s mother, which included biting her, efemjay now needs a vaccine. The woman in question was diseased, like efemjay’s high-school classmate Jaxeen Jones, who infamously had pinkeye in 1994.
