The state produces nothing of value. Those who live off the state – including police officers – must live by extracting wealth from productive members of society. The relationship between members of the political class, such as police; and the productive class, workers and entrepreneurs; is akin to the relationship between a parasite and its host.

Police are statists. They believe in enforcing laws they disagree with because the might of the state makes the laws automatically just. Every policeman must enforce laws with which he disagrees, unless he agrees with all laws – and since laws are constantly changing, this means in order to agree with all laws at all times, one would have to agree with laws simply because they are laws, thus validating the “might makes right” assertion.

Individual cops may be “cool people” off the job, or sometimes even on the job. That’s true of prison guards, too; and it was undoubtedly true of guards in the Soviet gulags and Nazi prison camps. However, police in the current system are inherently immoral for the reasons outlined in the song.

Helmet laws are allegedly designed to protect people from themselves – a hideously evil concept, at odds with the notion that human beings are free, own their own bodies, and are not slaves. The reality, of course, is that these laws are just another excuse to extract wealth from people who do not abide by them.

Truancy laws, like war, are the health of the state, since the public schools are run by the government and spread pro-government propaganda.

After referencing postal workers and teachers as being among the government employees who are the “scum of the earth,” efemjay says that police officers (“stinking swine”) are the worst of the worst.

Police officers once arrested and jailed people for the nonviolent crime of consuming alcohol. Today, they do the same for smoking marijuana. Prohibition does not work. It is evil. And yet “good cops” still violently kidnap and confine peaceful people for engaging in arbitrarily (at best) prohibited practices.

Government employees gain their wages through the violence of taxation.

“There is nothing that the state currently provides through theft and coercison that free human beings cannot provide at a lower cost and higher quality through voluntary interaction in the marketplace.” – Justin Stout.

In a free society, all services provided by government employees for which there is actually a demand would be provided by private individuals and collectives. Services for which there are not sufficient demand would not be provided at all. The government simply confiscates wealth from citizens and either (a) redistributes it in areas to which the people would voluntarily contribute; or (b) redistributes it to areas in which people would not voluntarily contribute. In the case of the former, government is unnecessary. In the case of the latter, it is evil. Both are true.

Postal workers and teachers are singled out here because they are among the most innocuous government employees. They don’t wield guns – but they would not exist in their present form without the implied and real violence of the state. The Post Office is a government-sponsored monopoly. Competition in first-class mail is prohibited. Public-school teachers are even more heinous in that they serve as the state’s arm for indoctrinating youth.

Chuck Sciarraba (mugshot below) was a classmate of efemjay’s. Sciarraba was extremely small in stature, weighing less than 100 lbs in 9th grade. He was one of those kids who wouldn’t take showers in gym class. He also had an incredibly quick temper and, at one time, tried to stab efemjay with a pencil.

Sciarraba moved from Michigan to Florida in 1994. He and efemjay exchanged letters once, and efemjay even sent Sciarraba the first FMJ underground tape, which Sciarraba wrote back to say he enjoyed.

In the year 2000, Sciarraba, 21, was living in Florida with two teenage boys. The three were struggling for money and decided to rob a cab driver. During the robbery, Sciarraba shot the cabbie. Later, he and his two accomplices went to the police and tried to pin the crime on someone else — it didn’t take long for the cops to realize that Sciarraba and his crew were the murderers. Now Sciarraba is doing life in prison.

In efemjay’s “Dewey Knitwell,” efemjay says of Sciarraba: “He shot that fucking cabbie but it should have been a copper.” Here, efemjay threatens to shoot a cop, like Chuck Sciarraba did a taxi driver.

Instead of deferring to the police, an outraged efemjay advises listeners to be openly hostile. Police have no legitimate authority to use force against peaceful individuals, and peaceful individuals rightfully have the right to defend themselves against the police’s initiation of force. If everyone were to withdraw consent from the system, it would crumble.

The notion that police protect citizens from violence is preposterous when the police actually commit violence against peace-loving, nonviolent citizens for engaging in voluntary and consensual acts. “Victimless crimes” include things like drug use, possession, and sales; prostitution; gambling; the production and distribution of raw milk; working without licensure, etc.
