The bullet holes are “mouths that say my name” because they tell the story as a mouth would they identify you as another victim of “the game”.

This also seems to be a reference to a quote from Shakespeare’s Julius Ceasar
“Over thy wounds now do I prophesy—
Which, like dumb mouths, do ope their ruby lips
To beg the voice and utterance of my tongue—
A curse shall light upon the limbs of men.”

Lupe has stated the the fictional figure the game has bullets for teeth, blunts for fingers, crack pipes for lungs and other such genius metaphorical manifestations. He is built of the things that destroy people.

Making them cool could also refer to having an effect on these people like The Game did on Michael Young History (a.k.a The Cool) who was killed by The Game and then rejected by not only Heaven, but also Hell.

This also refers to The Cool, the album’s overarching theme. The Cool = the Streets and the Game

Also perhaps reference to the widely believed falsehood that oil, which fuels man, comes from the bones of dinosaurs.

He mentioned earlier that “some of your smartest have tried to articulate my whole part in this but they’re fruitless in their harvest”, so that means the “woke” population. Then he says “I’m the one that they follow/ I am the on that they march with”. I’m thinking that “trusted misleader” fits the same idea mentioned in those two lines, is that even the people who think they know the truth are being mislead.

The second line could also be interpreted as a continuation of the list in the previous line, or the forms which the devil takes in protecting those from the previouse line. The trusted misleader being the politcal elite and the number one defender being the corrupt lawyer who defends those caught up in the game.

Again, this gives credence to the belief that Lupe is using this song to criticize the government via means of counter-narrative. The government implemented policy like the three strikes rule, which disproportionately affects minority populations. In these lines, the government is aware of the severe ramifications, but instead of neglecting to pay attention to them, it revels in the suffering of blacks.

Lupé also employs a cool double entendre in these lines. By saying that he hopes the girl father is with his mother “with my hustler high in my traps,” he is drawing attention to the prevalence of drugs in these communities. However, he is also linking those in charge of correctional institutions to “hustlers” (people meant to beguile you), and compares prisons to “traps.”

he means that the cool( Micheal Young History=My Cool Young History the chorus in a song off of the cool) is dead and he still has a daughter on earth that the game can influence. and children who lack father figures tend to make bad decisions and are easily manipulated.

Also a reference to the song from Food & Liquor “He Say She Say” and MYH’s father leaving

The last few words could also be an Oronym for “hiding my tracks.” As in the hustlers have killed the mother to cover up a wrong-doing.

Also relates to the previous line. You can’t pass his class if you miss your shots, he teaches his students better than that. They shoot to kill.

Today’s youth are exposed to violence that is glorified. The government doesn’t do much to prevent this lifestyle, and in fact encourages (as André 3000 astutely comments on in “Sixteen”) a reprobate lifestyle. In other words, the government through its inaction and allowing for the promotion of violent culture is teaching minorities (specifically black kids) to kill each other.

It could also be a direct reference to government. By making the comparison to blood, The Cool (government?) is describing itself as something essential to the status quo; he is what keep society functioning. The cool then proceeds to name all the services it provides (gas, water, electricity), something crucial.

The cool (which I argue is the government) has a preponderant amount of power. It is the gyms of the city (i.e, pretty much any community-based public space, such as parks, etc. We know how underfunded the low-income ones are), as well as its education. Through its ability to control education and the resources of the city, the Cool is able to establish its preferred social order – one that oppresses minorities.

Gym and math both refer to skills that are needed in being a criminal (gym for physical skill and math for counting product and money), while history clearly refers to Micheal Young History.

“its gym, and its math, and its history” could refer to the fact that you don’t need an education to work for “the game” he’s all the education you’ll ever need

‘The Game’ now controls the media and he decides the people’s perspective on what is ‘Cool’. ‘The Game’ has made himself the popular culture using media.(Gun Culture, American Dream, etc. which can be found in later lines.)

• The pace with which The Game took over the media is very high. The Game is mocking the sheep population by asking them *when will they finally catch up?*

This song is about the different kinds of evils having a conversation, explaining who they are and why they are the baddest. Lupe geniously signals that a new evil is talking, by starting a line with “I am the”

First Money starts explaining how it runs the world.
Then Drugs talk about their evils startig with: “I am the one that they march with”
The Capitalism speaks: “I am the american dream”
Then Gangs (Bloods): “I am the blood of this city”
And lastly Guns: “I am the safe haven for the rebel runaway and the resistor”

“I’ve begun this race” could be a double entendre meaning that evil created one of the earthly races.
