[A] Reagan Democrat is an American political term used by analysts to denote traditionally Democratic voters, especially white working-class Northerners, who defected from their party to support Republican President Ronald Reagan in both the 1980 and 1984 elections.
It is also used to refer to the smaller but still substantial number of Democrats who voted for George H. W. Bush in the 1988 election.

The Pulitzer Prize is a U.S. award for achievements in newspaper and online journalism, literature, and musical composition.
It was established in 1917 by provisions in the will of American (Hungarian-born) publisher Joseph Pulitzer, and is administered by Columbia University in New York City. Prizes are awarded yearly in twenty-one categories.
In twenty of the categories, each winner receives a certificate and a US$10,000 cash award. The winner in the public service category of the journalism competition is awarded a gold medal.

The George Polk Awards are a series of American journalism awards presented annually by Long Island University in New York in the United States.
The awards were established in 1948 in memory of George Polk, a CBS correspondent who was murdered while covering the Greek Civil War.

In January of 2013, military judge Denise Lind ruled that Manning had been treated unlawfully preceding his trial and “awarded” him 112 days of credit toward his sentence were he to be convicted.
According to reports, Manning was held in isolation in a windowless 6-by-8-foot cell for nine months in a Marine brig in Quantico, Virginia, where he was denied sunlight and meaningful exercise, and barred from wearing clothing for part of his detention.

Rafael Vicente Correa Delgado is the President of the Republic of Ecuador and the former president pro tempore of the Union of South American Nations.
He was elected President in late 2006 and took office in January 2007.
A year after taking office, Correa declared Ecuador’s national debt illegitimate due to his belief that it was debt contracted by prior regimes dominated by corruption and despotism.
As a result of this belief, Correa announced that Ecuador would be defaulting on approximately $3 billion worth of bonds. However, he fought the country’s creditors in international court and managed to reduce the price of the outstanding debt by more than 60%.

The Great Hall of The Cooper Union has stood for more than a century as a bastion of free speech and a witness to the flow of American History and ideas. When the hall opened in 1858, more than a year in advance of the completion of the institution, it quickly became a mecca for all interested in serious discussion and debate of the vital issues of the day.
The Great Hall was the platform for some of the earliest workers' rights campaigns and for the birth of the NAACP, the women's suffrage movement and the American Red Cross. To the Great Hall's podium has come a pageant of famous Americans — rebels and reformers, poets and presidents.
