This could potentially be a metaphor for a relationship. Normally housecats need rescued from trees, but obviously tigers are capable of getting themselves out of a tree. Perhaps the ‘tree’ stands for a bad situation, normally rescuing someone from a bad situation would be a good thing. But if that person is perfectly capable of saving themself, it makes rescuing them seem pointless and you may have gotten hurt when trying to rescue that person.
