Adam’s glad Eve’s looking out on the household accounting, but also wants her to chill out. God wanted us to live a little.

In other words, God hasn’t strictly told the two humans to work non-stop without sustenance, conversation, or loving looks and smiles. Adam states that reason comes from smiles, for violence and savagery are withheld when one smiles, allowing for clear thinking. He also says that love is not an annoyance but rather a delightful pastime; nor were humans created first and foremost to toil, but rather to love.
