With T.I. having white interior in his car, he doesn’t want any denim dye to bleed and cause discoloration on his seats, so he wants the girl to sit on a towel to prevent that. The towel could also be used to soak up any wetness if the girl gets too aroused while riding through the city in the Maybach.

The 40/40 Club is a chain of sports bars partially owned by Jay-Z

The name is borrowed from the baseball term used to denote the feat of having 40 home runs and 40 stolen bases in a single season

From the club’s website:

Welcome to the 40/40 club an all-American sports bar and lounge, conducive to my lifestyle, while being able to watch the games at the same time

For All Eyez On Me, 2Pac embraced a grittier thug persona than he ever did before, embedded partially due to his association with gangsta rap label, Death Row Records. ‘Pac felt reincarnated, and this opening aggressive track introduces listeners to his new self.

Daz Dillinger “put the gangsta twist” over the drums from Joeski Love’s “Pee Wee’s Dance” to create this beat, and 2Pac wasted no time getting on it since this was the first song he created for the album within hours of his release from prison.

Close friend and professional boxer Mike Tyson has used this song for entrance on multiple occasions. ‘Pac even wrote an alternative version specifically for Tyson to use—“Ambitionz Az A Fighta.”

One of Pac’s most known songs, it was released on June 4, 1996 as the third single from All Eyez On Me.

It charted at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and was a club favorite.

In an interview for Vlad TV Dalvin DeGrate from Jodeci, revealed that Pac originally performed the chorus in a “low-baritone voice.” He wasn’t pleased with his vocals, so he asked Dalvin if Jodeci could hop on the record. Dalvin called up K.C. & JoJo and the rest is history!

Three different music videos were filmed. One depicts Pac performing the song live at a concert. The other two are set at a party and feature various erotic activities such as cage dancing and pole stripping. One version is clean and the other is uncensored and filled with adult content. Several porn actresses starred, including Heather Hunter and Nina Hartley.

Nas spits inspirational lyrics over a very prominent Beethoven sample. KIDS: You can do anything you want in life!

From Rolling Stone:

That was a groundbreaking period for me. That was my biggest radio record I ever had, and like ‘If I Ruled the World,’ it was used by tons of schools for their graduation. A song like that helped me because I have a daughter, and because I make so much music that when she was younger I didn’t want her to listen to, I owed her and other kids something, something real, something real that’s up their alley, to show that I cared, that I’m a human being, that I’m not just about giving you a tune about what happens in the ‘hood and all that every day. I’ve got to be a real human being, and that was one of my real human being records right there, for my daughter. So yeah, that’s one of the most important records I ever made.

This hidden gem in the Hov discography is a DJ Premier remix of their 1997 collaboration, the intro track of Jay-Z’s second album In My Lifetime, Vol. 1 – his first album release since the deaths of rap superstars 2Pac and his friend The Notorious B.I.G.

The track was given a physical release in February 1998 as a B-Side when the original was released to radio as the album’s fourth single.

The song gives listeners a glimpse into the pressures of fame that affected his early career, compared to the more recent Jay-Z who has accepted his role as the new King of New York rap. The song is introspective and lyrical in a way that only Jay-Z can do it.

Biggie, like Alfred Hitchcock, is a master storyteller and artist. His raps are twisted and frightening, much like Hitchcock’s classic horror / suspense movies. Also, the Notorious B.I.G. is a rather fat fellow, like Alfred Hitchcock.

As far as we can tell, Birdman has spent all of 1 night in jail, for (what else) marijuana possession

Incidentally, the “Birdman of Alcatraz” is one of the most famous prisoners of all time (which makes it very difficult to Google this Birdman’s jail history)
