The girl from Ipanema, although being quite a lovely girl, has no idea that the writers of the song admire her gorgeous appearance each day.
Composer Antônio Carlos Jobim and poet Vinícius de Moraes were hanging out in Rio de Janeiro in the early 60’s when they first laid eyes on Heloísa Eneida Menezes Paes Pinto Pinheiro (also known as Helô). Helô was probably one of the most beautiful women in all of Brazil, and did not care for any of the men (especially older ones) that stared at her all day while she was on the beach.
