Coming from Long Beach, Vince had to grind and even gangbang for every penny he earned, so his drive for the cash is unusual for his age.

It’s worth noting that the Vince coined the catchphrase “get to the check,” and it’s been frequently used on his social media accounts as “#gttc”.

Not only did Hudson state in an interview that the record was written up to “maybe four to six years ago”, (hence lines like “I still hear my momma sayin'”), she also said this was more of a personal and straightforward record:

My mom used to tell us growing up, ‘If something hurts, if you moan, it’ll feel better’. I wrote every note, every word. It came from me.

Her mother was murdered back in 2008 alone with her brother and nephew. Therefore Hudson wrote this record around the time she passed, giving the track’s it’s ballad tone.

Raury constantly states that music is his dream and that’s his only option in life. To be the best you have to believe you’re the best, which Raury does here.

Note: As the project is titled Indigo Child, Raury does symbolize these indigo child traits with these lines:

  • Possess a clear sense of self-definition and purpose

  • Resistance to rigid, control-based paradigms of authority

As Raury came to find out as he grew older, he didn’t fit the “normal” mold of a teenager/young adult. He wanted to drop out of school and pursue music even though there was a huge risk factor involved with it:

As I grew up and started to form my own beliefs about shit, and I realized school was kinda fucking stupid in my opinion. It wasn’t the right environment for everybody in society to be the best they can be. You can’t train a fish how to climb up a tree. So around high school I started cutting class because I hated that shit. I made up my mind that I wanted to do music for the rest of my life. I’m dedicating everything into this, this is me.
