Still Soul Khan. Boring.

Continuing from the last four bars, that “shoulder shrug” attitude of mine would upset old flames while I’d just assure them that they’d get over it. I didn’t grasp the magnitude of how tough this situation was until I felt it myself. At the end of the day, though, it’s all water under the bridge because now I put a ring on it.

Prior to my marriage, I was at times shitty to my exes, even when they did not mistreat me. I even acted like an asshole to some who were exceedingly good to me, but that was before I was emotionally healthy and developed enough to do justice to that kind of affection.

Given how teenage and petty some folks are about intimacy, it seems like they just skipped the stages of enjoying crushes and being in love to the “let’s bone until we’re both empty inside” phase.

It’s a popular complaint among men that you cannot trust women, but there is actually no demonstrable superiority of men over women in the area of fidelity, so its a suspicion that’s unfounded.

As stated above in my annotation, making a go at romance can result in getting dumped, but when it’s going awry, never, ever, ever, ever let things get physical. That’s operation: shutdown right there. Whether you’re a man or a woman, don’t hit your partner.

In my past, I’ve experienced some tough, failed relationships, but it became apparent to me, after trying to “play it safe” by not getting too involved, that offering yourself for an intimate bond with a woman could always result in discontent.

It is awesome to be with a woman you love and it is also awesome to not condescend to them musically with “softer” beats. I’m from the Jodeci school of R&B where you could serenade over some mean, grimy drums.
