The battle was considered good for hip-hop because not only did this mark the beginning of KRS-One’s career but it was a good battle that produced some hip-hop classics and encouraged rappers to be lyrically sharp.

Rapper MC Shan and producer Marley Marl were two of the first artists to represent Queensbridge on wax with their 1986 collaboration track “The Bridge.” Their anthem would inspire future Queensbridge artists such as Cormega and Nas, who both collaborated with Marley and Shan on “Da Bridge 2001.”
