The ring is power that’s why they wouldn’t let them put their hands upon it. If it was a democracy the few would have no power unless they were very persuasive, or very long winded. It isn’t just about strength, looks, numbers, or popularity, it’s wealth.

It’s like quantum mechanics, the state would be altered or besmirched in some way if you were able to measure it. The continuous ring is like Ouroborus it represents eternity but if you had eternity you couldn’t over think it because it’s repeating over again, ignorance is bliss, if you wished for eternity and had your wish granted you wouldn’t even be aware that it had been granted because the eternity would just be nothingness.

It’s also like seeing the beauty in mundane things, it’s not the gold that you seek to find that will make a good memory, its all the interesting black and brown stones you find along the way some smooth and shine jagged and some are most precious because they crumble as soon as you touch them and those kinds of rocks are pretty cool too. This songwriter must have been a fun kid, with a big imagination, but lost that sense of wonder slowly over time. Or someone impose their views upon this person and their whole worldview just crumbled and no good deed went unpunished so they resolved to preserve the innocence of others by any means that they in their sadness (perhaps due in part to feeling betrayed by like a Judas) felt might be necessary.

The ring that King Solomon wore that controlled the demons that built the temple that Jarred (or Harrod?) the great tried to replicate.

Also, the pope wears a golden ring that looks kind of like Solomons ring.

I’m digging the image of the gold ring uncovered in the muck. Our hands must be even filtered than the muck that we found the ring in.

Like a lost wedding ring that they will not rest until they find, meanwhile their S/O has left them because they became obsessed with the ring, the money, or what it symbolizes or what it means to them. The other left because they are spending all their time looking for this ring in some dump.

Or maybe because they just won’t/ can’t seem to shut up for lack of a nicer word.

Sounds like reaching for a halo to me. The previous verse talks about what is “promised” and our souls. So yeah.

I often find that people will interrupt me literally one word before the end of my rant and say “Are you just about done I can’t take it anymore!” And then I’ll be twice as mad because I really was just about done and they just threw away my whole comment and probably missed the point for nothing. If only there was a way to say more with fewer words. 3’s company, Too many cooks spoil the soup.

His fiance left him so he called her and threatened to kill himself to make her come back and then he took control of her. Maybe not personally this happened literally to him but that’s what this lyric appears to be about. Or maybe they just felt they’d reached the height of their career and didn’t know what to do next so they wrote this song.

Davey wrote this as a throw away line, he was just singing random words to Jade’s riff with the aim of writing proper lyrics later.

Jade liked how this line sounded and so Davey wrote the rest of the song around it (not something he usually does).

So essentially, it doesn’t really mean anything (at least, not intentionally).
