The belly, may be referring to what is trapping the kid. Gangsterism, Guns, Prison even the possibility of Death. The beast may be a reference to the system/cycle that the kid grew up in. Q also highlights something which has been around black neighbourhoods: Most children can either make it out of a neighbourhood by either rapping or hooping. And if you can’t do that then you have to resort to the gang life. This is heavily influenced by narcotics, the same narcotics that were introduced in the Regan Era. And these narcotics were supplied by the government. Yet another Cycle highlighted by Q.

The youngster is “smoking” people in the streets, like he would do a bud of marijuana. Note how Q says his kind, referring to the black folk. Who are his own people. Jay-Z speaks on this too.

EXTRA, EXTRA, READ ALL ABOUT IT!

Clever wordplay by Q to get you to read the LA Times. Q plays on EXTRA, EXTRA! and replaces it with Gangster. So Q’s specifically directing this line, and the rest of the verse to all, the Gangsters in LA and most likely all around the world. The headlines are occurrences which they deal with everyday.

The fact that Q laced these two lines in a the format of the Daily News means that he wants the people he is addressing to read and understand what he’s saying and open their eyes and not get caught up in the cycle.

There are actually guns in the streets. And here are the statistics. And companies like Smith and Wesson supply. And the government lets them.

Q’s not only shouting a wake up call to the Gangsters, but to the whoever his listening. He’s giving them the reality of what he is living in.

Q is…

Firstly shouting out Eminem Tha Gawd. This connects the 50’s who I do it for line, as 50 Cent is a close friend of Eminem’s and someone who Q mentions on this song as a person he owes. He also made a song with the dude.

Secondly, Eminem is in fact at his limit or peak which would mean he can’t get any better – Rap God. Q may be suggesting that he’s already at that limit, and he can’t get any better. Or he could be saying that he’s aiming to get to Eminem’s level, which is GAWD status.

Thirdly, he and these other rappers are not the same. A synonym is a word that shares similarities with another name in terms of meaning, but is spelt differently. Q’s name is spelt totally differently and shares no similarity in meaning with these rappers' whatsoever. He is part Hiiipower.

Minsh: To diminish in power or influence. Your minisher, would be whatever diminishes you – makes you weaker and less of an influence. And whatever makes you weak, makes Q stronger. He emphases this with the wordplay, I major in your minisher.

Q then draws an Oxymoron. Killing people is deemed unholy in Christianity, in fact it breaks The 10 Commandments. Leaving him by the minister would mean in a coffin, at his own funeral of course. However, the main objective of the Church is to bring souls to Jesus. It seems Q did that, just not in the most ideal way…

Hash is the resin collected from the Weed flower and is normally smoked in pipes, water pipes, joints etc. Now normally when smoking a joint, one would remove the ash. But Q let’s it burn. Quite the badass. Note how the internal rhyme continues.

WORDPLAY!

  1. Q’s hitting you with that Ether. That shit that makes your soul burn slowly.

  2. Q connects the Ether and emphasizes it with pyromaniac. A pyromaniac is someone who has a serious urge to start a fire. And since Ether is highly flammable, Q’s definitely likely to burn you.

  3. Keister is another word for ass. Note, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air had an episode called Asses to Ashes, this could be a play on that.

  4. Q however, isn’t worried about them right now. The task at hand, is to get money.

Note the internal rhyme: Feel this Ether, you niggas keisters. Ain’t shit but ass, newest task is getting cash.
