This verse continues from the story was explaining in the second verse. Here, the song takes a more spiritual direction as Life and Death is something very spiritual. This verse shares a huge resemblance with songs such as Pray by Game & J. Cole, The Prayer by Kid Cudi. In a way, this is Reason’s own prayer as 2013 draws to a close.

Even though this isn’t Final Destination, the way in which people are dying is shocking and unexpected. For example, Paul Walker. With so many people dying, both famous and those close to him, Reason’s feeling a bit uneasy about who’s next. Alluding that it could be him.

Well, since Reason wasn’t working in December, it must’ve been a Merry Christmas. Note how he plays around with Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Even though he had a Merry – happy – Christmas day, it only lasted one day. And then it’s back to reality. And seeing Reason didn’t have such a fantastic year, he needs a Happy New Year. Seeing as a Happy New Year is much more longer than just a Merry Christmas Day, that’s what Reason needs.

In 2013, amazing things have definitely happened for him. But he needs more amazing things to happen in order for him to be truly happy, and cry happy tears. Instead of crying tears of anger.

As he saw the mother at the funeral, he prayed for her and her family.

Losing a son, a brother and a father can be very difficult on some people and may result in them not being able to maintain living in life. So Reason prayed.
