We don’t know what you’re talking about Reason, normally parties do jump after they hear that Worst.

But no, not that type of worst. Hearing the death of anyone you know is the worst news you could possibly get and does tend to spoil your happiness or whatever good vibe you had. So as Reason heard the news of Madibs' passing, he was unhappy about it. But it just didn’t feel right.

  • Vilakazi: Vilakazi Street in Orlando West, Soweto. Madiba and Winnie-Madikizela Mandela lived on that street during Apartheid and started their family there. The house is now a museum and also a tourist attraction.

Note: Madibs' passed away on thursday.

Now, Kiernan is AKA’s real name, Kiernan Forbes. AKA tweeted the news of Madibs' passing long before the official announcement and tweeted pictures of the activity at the Mandela House in Houghton. Now, on Yfm every Thursday, there is a show called Siz ‘n Scoop hosted by Sizwe Dhlomo Tha Gawd and Scoop Makhathini aka Siyabonga Ngekwazi. So Siz is a reference to Sizwe. And seeing as Sizwe is pretty much knowledgeable on everything there is to life, Reason waited for confirmation from Siz. On air of course.

Kind of a sombre way to end December. What with the death of many people at the end of the year – some of which have been seriously shocking – and the death of Nelson Mandela, this edition of the monthly freestyles sees Reason delving into a sensitive topic in December, Death. Another reason as to why he chose this topic is because it is the Festive Season and people tend to travel long distances to different places to go on holiday, especially in South Africa. Unfortunately, people don’t seem to know how to drive and so many accidents occur which even claim whole families. Check the statistics. Reason also touches on how death has hit him personally.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

August, September and October freestyles.

While the S is on the mission, just sit down and relax. This verse also sums up a couple of activities they do with the music:

  • Many people have/had expectations for the music and Slum Village have lived up to those expectations.

  • While they’re fulfilling other people’s expectations, they still keep it true and keep ripping up rhymes and giving you good music to circulate your brain.

  • This is music that you can just cruise to, whether you’re cooling on the corner with your fly bitch.

Again, note the assonance:

Ripping, Dipping, Pimping.
