And he be pumpin' on your block
Your man gave him your Glock
And now they run together — what up, son? Whatever Nas (Ft. Q-Tip) – One Love

Nas' friend was residing at Rikers Island jail complex, but due to the assault mentioned above, he has been moved to Elmira Correctional Facility, a maximum security prison. Nas is saying that there are some nasty dudes there, so his pal needs to keep his head down to avoid any horrific incidents
In the clean version of this song, “niggas” is changed to “lifers” – those who are serving life sentences.
Note the juxtaposition of fire and showers (in the next line).
“Put that ass on fire” is a double entendre, on the one hand, the other prisoners will burn his ass as in “destroy him”, on the other hand it connects with the next line, for they will literally put his ass on fire as they rape him in the shower.

Wrong about the transfer. Riker’s is a city lockup for the accused (that can’t make bail or don’t get bail)or serving a sentence of less than one year. Most NYC prisoners spend time in Riker’s before being shipped to the state facility where they will serve their time.
