This is in reference to Donna Haraway’s Simians, Cyborgs, and Women: The Reinvention of Nature which contains one of Haraway’s most notable essays, A Cyborg Manifesto.

Cayea claims he’s reviving the old school sound by making a comparison to a spinal tap, or lumbar puncture, which is when a needle is inserted into the spine to extract spinal fluid for diagnosis.

Cayea’s actual astrological sign is Aquarius, otherwise known as the water bearer.

K2, the second largest mountain in the world, is often regarded as one of, if not the most difficult climb on the planet. Sylvan compares his attempt to reach greatness to the ascension the Savage Mountain, claiming he won’t stop til' he gets that guap.

This is also an allusion to the fifth song on the mixtape in which Cayea pays some dues of his own.

Referring to J Dilla’s single Won’t Do off of the album The Shining.

Cayea’s role as rapper and producer could also have him on a Dilla wave being that Jay Dee rapped/produced the song in reference.

Resin, short for residue, is a dark, sticky substance that is created when weed is burned. Because this resin can still contain THC, smokers will often collect it from smoke pieces to re-smoke (or re-sin) with.

Cayea compares this substance to buboes: the large boil-like result of having the plague.

Also note the homographic use of resin with re-sin.

Cayea’s wake n' bake has got his mind up in the sky, or high.

In many Indian religions, the third eye represents a better spiritual awareness through the ability of reaching higher consciousness. Often related to the pineal gland, the third eye is believed to gain enhancement through the use of mind-altering drugs (acid, weed, etc…)

He also admits retrospectively that although he was altering his mind, it didn’t necessarily bring him into a higher state of awareness.

This outro is in direct reference to the beginning of Martyr on the Balcony, the next track on The Curve. The first lines of MOTB are:

I’ve undergone metamorphosis
Ever since Morpheus gave me the red pill
Popped it in my orifice like ‘Damn, I need some more of this

The quote is from the 1999 film The Matrix:

This is one of the oldest songs on the mixtape; it’s creation dating back to the fall of 2013. The beat started when I found Both Hands Free:

It was so ambient and chill, I just let my mind run with it and ended up slowing it way down. After getting a loop/skeleton laid out, I added some of the most sampled drums in hip hop:

All other additions to the beat are minor, such as slight drum layering and the occasional low 808 that hits throughout the verses.
