Not following the rules printed on pill bottles, such as by taking too many or by mixing with other drugs, could lead to adverse hyperactive effects.

Alternatively, this could be a specific reference to adverse effects of taking ecstasy pills, which include both hyperactivity and dehydration.

Case in point: the dude who looks like a viking from the viral “Techno Viking” video. After drinking from a water bottle he goes nuts and raves in the street.

“Blur My Hands” is the third track on Lupe Fiasco’s Tetsuo and Youth. The song features Guy Sebastian — who also collaborated with Lupe on “Battle Scars”.

Lupe released 2 unofficial versions of the song’s cover art. The first (shown below) features Marathon of Hope runner Terry Fox — to whom Lupe references in the third verse.

The second shows an iconic photo of Johnny Cash giving the finger — an image that supports the theme described throughout the song’s hook.

Galileo supposedly performed an experiment to test his theory of gravity by dropping 2 balls of different masses off the leaning tower of Pisa. He predicted that the balls would reach the ground at the same time, whereas the old school of thought said the heavier ball should reach the ground first.

Keeping the space theme, Lu uses Galileo to lay low. Galileo was forced to be in hiding after discovering the earth revolves around the sun and not the other way around.

In earlier times, people were prosecuted to go against the Bible and sentenced to lifetime prison. Even though Galileo’s right, no one would accept his concepts, needing to escape the public’s view.

15th transcription was “Chopper” off Lupe Fiasco’s (leaked) Tetsuo & Youth. 9 and a half minutes – 7 verses. Not gonna lie, this one should count as 2 ;)

Lupe explains the feeling of euphoria one feels while listening to his music. His listeners leave the real world, away from the loud traffic, the destination of driver, and feel the music.

This verse doubles as an elaborate reference to the film Falling Down, starring Michael Douglas. In the film, Douglas' character gets stuck in traffic and leaves his car on the highway, taking his briefcase with him. He encounters obstacles while walking to his daughter’s birthday and attacks everyone who gets in his way. Echo Park is a region of L.A., where the film is set.

Fun fact: The 101 happens to be the freeway that runs right next to Echo Park.

The backing piano melody and sung vocals heard throughout and the opening string section are sampled from “Chanson D'un Jour D'Hiver,” by French jazz singer Alain Mion and his band Cortex. The sample was pitched up, sped up in tempo, and looped, with drums added over it to make the bass resonate more powerfully.

Interestingly, the sample’s title translates to “Song of a Winter’s Day” (no coincidence that this fits the seasonal theme most apparent in the album’s instrumental tracks).

While “Mural” is the only track on T&Y produced by The Buchanans, they have teamed up with Lupe before (see e.g. “All Black Everything”) and were even shouted out in Lupe’s 12 minute-long F&L “Outro.”

Lupe doesn’t care about all his haters, and has openly discussed how he reads his twitter mentions and sees all the hate.

He discusses this in an interview with DJ SKEE which went down the day before Tetsuo & Youth was released as well as a more recent interview with Sway

This week I’m scribing Madness by Guy Sebastian.

Who is Guy Sebastian, you ask? He’s an Australian Pop/R&B singer – though you might know him from the song “Battle Scars” he did with Lupe Fiasco. Anyways Madness came out Nov. 21st 2014 and almost none of the tracks were on Genius.

Notable tracks:

The 4th single off Madness. Guy & Lupe previously recorded the song “Battle Scars” in 2012.

Fun fact: Lupe actually wrote and recorded a short intro verse that was cut from the final version of the track.

Linger, the rapper and the singer
Snatching at distraction but collapsing at the fingers
Guarantee it’ll stand the test of time until it’s crackin' at the femurs
Constant residues of you, proves that love was never true
