XXL was a hip-hop magazine that wasn’t on the greatest terms with Eminem or Cypress Hill back in the day. B-Real suggests that he and Shady take the title of Em’s classic “Kill You” literally and start killing everyone that works for the magazine.

Eminem himself fired some shots at XXL in one of The Marshall Mathers LP’s most iconic songs.

Few things going on here:

  • OutKast (particularly André) were known believers in the Nuwaubian Nation and the associated UFO Religion, in which the primary belief is that extraterrestrials will one day integrate themselves into human society and form a new civilization. This belief was very prevalent on their last album ATliens.
  • As André addressed in the last line, “you get introduced to a lot of fake phony ass people” that will try to infiltrate your close groups of friends once you make it big
  • André is a bit of an outsider himself. And after trying to integrate himself into the public eye in the last album ATliens, he is back to do so again on Aquemini.
