The Divine Comedy is an epic poem written by Dante Alighieri during the 1300’s. Divided into 3 parts, the poem is about Dante’s journey through Hell, Purgatory and Heaven. It is also an allegory for the soul’s journey to God.

It’s not a comedy in the modern (funny) sense, but since it has a happy ending (Dante does reach heaven), it was considered one.

The Theory of Relativity actually encompasses 2 of Einstein’s theories- Special Relativity and General Relativity. The former explains elementary particles (particles so small that they cannot be broken down any further), while the latter explains the inner workings of the universe.

The theory of relativity basically states that ALL motion is relative. Even time. This required space and time to be combined into a single continuum, called spacetime, where time is dependent on velocity.

According to

, achieving light speed requires infinite mass.

But if a new theory was developed where you could go faster than the speed of light, you would also be able to (theoretically) travel in time.

Wilder’s original lyrics were:

Ain’t nothing gonna break my stride
Nobody gonna slow me down
Oh, no
I got to keep on moving

CG really likes to talk about Weezy. The line above is another Lil Wayne reference, as Wayne often says “I am a martian”.

CG often compares himself to Weezy, so the fact that other people do too shouldn’t be a surprise. Their styles are also similar as Gambino does clever wordplay and punchline raps. Wayne can also be dope at it if he’s trying like on 6 Foot 7 Foot.

Given how big (or inescapable?) Lil Wayne is these days, I’d consider the comparison a compliment.

He continues the bread theme of the previous lines with ‘bagel’, and this is also a threat to anybody who goes against him.
He must be packing some high caliber shit to leave exit wounds that big.

This is a collaboration between Kanye West and the Teriyaki Boyz, a Japanese hip hop supergroup that includes members of RIP Slyme and m-flo. The 4 rappers are well known in the Japanese scene and the DJ is Nigo, the founder of A Bathing Ape.

The title “I Still Love H.E.R.” is an allusion to Common’s song ‘I Used to Love H.E.R.’ In the Teriyaki Boyz song, it stands for ‘Hontō E Rap’ (or Hontō ii Rap) and in Common’s it stands for ‘Hearing Every Rhyme’ or ‘Hip hop in its Essence is Real’. The common Japanese phrase Hontōni best translates to English as ‘really?’ but the root of the word, Hontō or 本当, means truth or reality. Because of this, we can read the Teriyaki Boyz version of H.E.R. as “Real Rap” or “True Rap”.

Despite people telling her that he is no good he is the first one in her life to touch her with genuine affection and care.

Before he came along, when anybody touched her they were doing it for their own gain and didn’t care about her. But now when he touches her, she reciprocates those feelings and she realizes that her life could be different.

Ketamine, also known as “K” is a powerful dissociative drug often coming in the form of a powder. A common practice is to sniff a “key bump” where the user scoops up a small amount with the end of a key. In this case he keeps his ketamine in a jar.

He plays on the idea of a car’s ingnition, turning the key in the jar and getting high off of the drug again “stick the key in the jar to turn it back on.”

A full house (3 of a kind plus a pair) is a really powerful hand in poker, and with single cards, the Ace is always the highest.

“Full house” is a double entendre, where one meaning is that he was speaking to a sold out crowd. The other is he was literally talking to his poker hand (a full house) when he realized that she was his highest card.

“To have an Ace up your sleeve” means to have a hidden or secret advantage over the others, which she gave him just by being with him.
