Here, Joe riffs on the dual meaning of “hustling.” He compares his hard work in both the legal and illegal sectors to the basketball term, then backs up his reference by showing his allegiance to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Hustle I’m a Laker” sounds like “As-salamu alaykum”, that’s an Arabic greeting often used by Muslims around the world. It nearly translates to “peace be upon you”, but is often considered the equivalent to “hello”, “hi” or “good day” in English. The standard response to the greeting is Wa alaykumu s-salam.

On the other hand, though, he means that his charm equals his physical bulk, and if the chain didn’t attract your wife to him, his smooth talk would.

A play on the advertising campaign used for Jaws 2.
“Just when you thought it was safe to go in the water…” adapted for dry land.
Also, Fat Joe would have had a street corner from which to sell drugs during his career as a dealer. If his competitors or enemies were around that area, it wouldn’t be a safe place for them to be.

This is possibly my favorite line by Rick Ross, mostly due to its superb assonance but also to its gleefully menacing absurdity. Ross is frustrated by “middlemen” taking up an unnecessary position in his line of business and making money off of something he could do himself, so in keeping with the nautical theme of the song he compares himself to this guy

due to his island theme and resolves to kill them all, whether figuratively (by eliminating their purpose) or literally.

We’ve made our way from the lowest socioeconomic bracket (the figurative bottom) to what is basically the highest one, making it ironic in a way that our chosen home is at the literal bottom of a United States map.

Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp (March 19, 1848 – January 13, 1929) was a gambler, Pima County Deputy Sheriff, and Deputy Town Marshal in Tombstone, Arizona, and took part in the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral during which lawmen killed three outlaw cowboys.

Biographical liberties taken by author Stuart N. Lake led to a widespread belief that Earp favored an extremely long-barreled Colt called a Buntline Special. It’s possible that Bronson is referring to this type of handgun, or at least making a fairly hyperbolic comparison.
