Black Sabbath

About Black Sabbath

From their start as a heavy blues rock band called Earth in 1968, Black Sabbath has survived over 4 decades with a total of 19 studio albums and numerous hits, and have put together one of the greatest rock bands of all time and set the standards for music in their genre.

Virtually every single heavy metal band has cited the early Black Sabbath albums as a major musical influence and Black Sabbath has at least played some part in laying the foundations for most of heavy metal’s subgenres, including sludge metal (Master of Reality), thrash metal (Symptom of the Universe), power metal (War Pigs) black metal (Black Sabbath), stoner metal (Sweet Leaf) and doom metal (Into the Void). Singers Ozzy Osbourne and Dio and guitarist Tony Iommi also had successful solo careers.
