About Chita Rivera

Chita Rivera (born Dolores Conchita Figueroa del Rivero, January 23, 1933) is an American actress, dancer and singer. Her father was Puerto-Rican and her mother was of Scottish and Irish descent. Since 1944 she attended the Jones-Haywood School of Ballet and in 1951 she debuted on Broadway in Call Me Madam. Later she achieved success in shows including Can-Can, West Side Story and Bye Bye Birdie.
