Chrysalis Records

AKA: Chrysalis Records Ltd., Chrysalis Records Limited, and Ellis-Wright Agency

About Chrysalis Records

Chrysalis Records is a British record label founded by Chris Wright and Terry Ellis in 1968.

Its name comes from a combination of the founders' names; it is also a reference to the pupal stage of a butterfly, hence its logo.

Starting as an independent record label, it became formerly part of the EMI Group in the Nineties, only to be later acquired by Warner Music Group in 2013.

In 2016, the label was acquired from Blue Raincoat Music and its founder Chris Wright returned in charge as a non-executive chairman.

Among the most famous artists who worked with the label there are UFO, Ultravox, Suzi Quatro, Greg Lake, Micheal Schenker Group and many other.
