Dakota Star

About Dakota Star

Dakota Star is a now defunct J-Rock/Pop band consisting of Canadian Alan Brey (bass) and Japanese members Chiaki (vocals) and Tasuku (guitar).

Dakota Star was formed when A & R man Antonio Ito of Tearbridge Productions introduced Alan to Tasuku in Tokyo. They decided to try writing a few songs together, took a trip to the seaside, and came back with several songs.
Chiaki had been doing sessions with Tasuku for a while so it only seemed natural to ask her to sing on the tracks. Several months later they had a whole album recorded in which Chiaki sang all of the songs in English.

The name Dakota Star came from Chiaki; she lived in South Dakota during her high school years where she studied English, so it only seemed fitting!

The band’s self titled debut in 2006 was their only LP release. However they recorded many songs for popular video games such as Gran Turismo 4 and some Japanese films.
