About Denis & Denis

Denis & Denis were a Yugoslav pop band founded in Rijeka, Croatia, active originally from 1982-1988. They were one of the most popular bands throughout Yugoslavia and continue to have a cult following around the world today.

In their original existence they were comprised of Davor Tolja and Marina Perzarić. In 1984, they released the album Čuvaj se! which features their most popular song, “Program tvog kompjutera”. In 1985, they released another album titled Ja sam lažljiva. Soon after, Marina Perzarić left the band to pursue a solo career. She was replaced by Edi Kraljić and in 1988 the band released Budi tu, an album that traded away much of the synth-pop sound they were known for and featuring a more guitar-driven pop-rock sound instead.

In 1995, Croatia Records (the successor company to the band’s original label, Jugoton) released a 15-track compilation album of Denis & Denis’s tracks recorded from 1984-1985 titled Program tvog kompjutera, after the band’s most well-known single. There is also a bootleg compilation album by the same name which contains the same 15 tracks as the official compilation from Croatia Records but adds four more tracks from Marina Perzarić’s solo material: “Kolačići”, “Maline i kupine”, “U ritmu me okreni”, and “Htjela bih da umrem, al' neću bez tebe”.

In 2012, Davor Tolja hired new singer Ruby Montanari Knez and released a new album in 2013 under the Denis & Denis name: Restart.
