Herbert Dixon Asquith (March 1881 to August 1947) was an English writer and lawyer, the second son of H. H. Asquith, the British Prime Minister from 1908 to 1916

Asquith wrote poems dedicated to those who fought in the Great War.“ The Volunteer” and “The Fallen Subaltern”, and “Soldiers at Peace” are the most successful, the latter set to music by Ina Boyle.

In 1910, he married Lady Cynthia Charteris, and fathered two sons.
