H.W.A.

AKA: Hoes With Attitudes, Hoes With Attitude, and Hoez With Attitude

About H.W.A.

The rap trio HWA was formed in 1989 by Jazz (Tanya Kenner), Baby Girl (Kim Kenner), and Diva (Dion Devoux). Diva was later replaced by Go-Di. HWA stands for Hoez With Attitude. Coming together in ‘89, they were founded and funded by Chicago legend, Keith “KP” Presley, and soon after secured an independent label from Drive-By Records to record their debut, Livin’ In A House House.

The album wasn’t a huge success, only reaching #38 on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts, but the group became known for their sexually explicit lyrics, soon being signed to Eazy-E’s label, Ruthless Records. Their second album, Az Much Ass Azz U Want was just as unsuccessful, reaching #71 on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts.

In 1993, H.W.A. released a single called “All That (Juzt A Little Action) which received generous airtime because of Eazy-E’s involvement. They also made a cameo appearance in Eazy-E’s diss song, Real Muthaphuckkin G’s.

A year later, H.W.A released a remix album called I Ain’t No Lady. Sometime afterwards, the trio disbanded.

In 2012, according to member Jazz, the trio reformed.
