About Jason Yates

Jason Yates is a versatile musician from Los Angeles, known for his work as a keyboard player and his collaborations with a diverse group of artists. He began his career as a guitar player in the early ‘90s with the band Momma Stud, which combined rock and funk. Yates later became a sought-after keyboard player, contributing to the success of Macy Gray’s band and joining Natalie Merchant on her first solo tour. He spent five years with Ben Harper and was part of the Grammy Award-winning album There Will Be A Light with the Five Blind Boys. His solo album, released by Vapor Records, reflects his artistic voice and is characterized by a natural and live sound with minimal overdubs. Throughout his career, Yates has also worked with G. Love & Special Sauce, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Citizen Cope, the Gary Louris-Mark Olsen band, Mazzy Star, Taj Mahal, Toots & the Maytals, Acetone, and many others.
