MARO

MARO é o nome artístico de Mariana Secca, uma cantora, compositora, produtora e multi-instrumentista portuguesa oriunda de Lisboa, conhecida por ter acompanhado Jacob Collier em tour no ano de 2019.

Crescendo num ambiente musical, aos 14 anos, já havia aprendido a tocar piano e guitarra, tendo formação musical na Berklee College of Music, começando assim a dar os seus primeiros passos na música.

Foi apenas em 2018 que MARO lançou seis projetos auto-escritos e produzidos, incluindo o seu primeiro álbum a solo auto-intitulado em 3 volumes: MARO, Vol. 1, MARO, Vol. 2, e MARO, Vol. 3.

Tendo ao longo dos anos ganhado a atenção alguns nomes notórios da música como Quincy Jones, Justin Timberlake, Jessie J, Tracy Chapman, Lennon Stella, The Paper Kites e muitos outros, MARO trouxe consigo influências de Elis Regina, Esperanza Spalding e Justin Bieber.

Ainda no ano de 2018, MARO assina com a editora de Quincy Jones.

Em 2022, o tema “saudade, saudade” de MARO, foi o vencedor no Festival da Canção 2022 — representando assim Portugal na Eurovisão.

MARO, artistic name of Mariana Secca (born 1994, Lisbon, Portugal) is a Portuguese singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, known for having toured with Jacob Collier in 2019.

She grew up with music. As a 14-year-old girl, she had already learned to play the piano and guitar and was given musical training. With a degree from Berklee College of Music, she starts to create her space in the music scene.

In 2018 alone, MARO released six self-written and produced artist projects, including her first self-titled solo album in 3 volumes.

Having gained attention from the likes of Quincy Jones, Justin Timberlake, Jessie J, Tracy Chapman, Lennon Stella, The Paper Kites, and many other notable names worldwide, she has influences from Elis Regina to Esperanza Spalding to Justin Bieber.

MARO signed to Quincy Jones management in 2018.

In 2022, the song “saudade, saudade” by MARO, was the winner at the Festival da Canção 2022 — thus representing Portugal in Eurovision.
