About Matthew Weiner

Matthew Weiner is a writer/producer/director who is best known for his work in creating Mad Men, and has considerable links to contributing in The Sopranos.

Weiner was born on the 29th of June 1965, and was quick to try and make a breakthrough in the media scene. However, he struggled to make an impact, he was quoted saying:

[The start of my career was a] dark time. Show business looked so impenetrable that I eventually stopped writing.

Fortunately, Weiner was supported by his wife, Linda Brettler who was an Architect. This enabled him to break into the scene of screen-writing, where his first breakthrough was in 1999 in the series “Stumble in the Bronx” where he was a writer. Weiner currently resides in Los Angeles, and since his latest TV series Mad Men has finished, Weiner is yet to begin creating a new show or writing.

In his career, he has been nominated for 60 awards for since 1991, winning 21 in total.
